Since the beginning of lockdown a collective of inner city CANs have supported a group of informal traders, craftsman and artisans who were rendered homeless as a result of reduced income under Covid-19 lockdown regulations. With nowhere to go they settled in Van Riebeeck Park with the hope of finding shelter in one of the city sites, but this was not possible. With winter approaching we are seeking to raise funds to support the cost of their accommodation over the winter months and to bridge the gap until they are able to generate their own income again to pay for their monthly accommodation.
Our target is to supplement their accommodation costs with R20 000 per month x 3 months. This will go towards helping them seek accommodation.
