For those of us in the CBD sitting behind computers in our homes or apartments in the CBD we can only begin to imagine the work going on in Khayelitsha. The Khayelitsha CAN has been incredibly active, mobilising a team of 20 volunteers to do everything they can to assess community challenges and trying to help address immediate needs. On top of it all they've done their best to share the journey with us so we can try to get behind them. Hear a quick audio summary of the early days in Khayelitsha from Ntsikie Dlulani.
Whatsapp has been our greatest tool to stay connected but at times it's hard to keep up with the overwhelming frenzy of communication. In the midst of quickly organising and mobilising the team in Khayelitsha, they were faced with the immense burden of the evictions taking place in Empolweni. Watch the news interview conducted by Buhle Booi.
The Khayelitsha CAN has been instrumental in addressing immediate needs while working together with the CBD CAN and other CAN's to rally donations and support to ensure the poorest of the poor have food to sustain themselves for the next month.
Thank you to everyone who's donated and gotten involved in the project to support Khayelitsha.
**Big thanks to Miki Redelinghuys and Zacharia Mashele for the images and video.
